Outeniqua chair Challenge

Posted on Fri February 16, 2024.

The Outeniqua Chair Challenge had humble beginnings in 2002 with just 27 athletes participating in a half marathon race down the Outeniqua Pass into George.

This prestigious (wheel) chair event in South Africa for persons with physical disabilities,

now known as the OCC, is organised by a dedicated team of professionals and

volunteers.

The OCC gives the ordinary person in a (wheel) chair the opportunity to rediscover

long-forgotten abilities and achieve something very special for him or herself.

It has become a pioneering event in South Africa for previously

disadvantaged and disabled young athletes, as well as all disabled persons, who

embrace the opportunity to take part in a major sporting event that recognises them

as athletes, no matter what their level of participation.

This year’s Outeniqua Chair Challenge – the 20th race since its inception in 2002 –  athletes will participate in a 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km race or 5 km Fun in George, (host- and founder city) on Saturday, 24 February 2024.

All activities takes place at the Race Village at Carpe Diem School
